About Us – Zorica Spices
Namaste and welcome to Zorica Spices,
a small father-daughter dream born in the narrow lanes of Khari Baoli, Old Delhi, Asia’s largest wholesale spice and dry-fruits market.
My name is Chef Kapil Kumar, and for the last 27 years I have cooked in some of India’s finest five-star hotel kitchens. I have roasted, ground, and balanced masalas for thousands of plates. But the spices that always made my food truly sing? The ones I hand-picked myself every week from the very shops my father and grandfather trusted in Khari Baoli.
This shop is named after my 7-year-old daughter, Zorica. Every evening when I come home, she runs to the kitchen, stands on her little stool, and smells the fresh masala I brought from the market. Her eyes light up and she says, “Papa, yeh wali khushboo toh bilkul dadi ke ghar jaisi hai!” (Papa, this smells exactly like grandma’s house!)
That innocent happiness is what I wanted to bottle and send to every home in India.
So I left the big hotel kitchens and came back to the lanes I grew up in. Today, the same traders who supplied my family for three generations supply Zorica Spices. I personally select every chilli, every clove, every almond, exactly the way I did when I was cooking for presidents and film stars, only now I do it for you and your family.
